Shipping from China: frequently asked questions
The questions our customers ask most and people search for, with short, clear answers.
General
Do you deliver to all Iraqi governorates?
Yes, including the Kurdistan Region (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok). Collect at our Kut or Baghdad office, or we deliver to your address as agreed.
How long does shipping from China to Iraq take?
Roughly one to two weeks by air and one to two months by sea, from receiving the goods in China to having them ready in Iraq. The exact time depends on the Chinese city, season and goods, and we tell you with the quote.
How is the shipping price calculated?
Air is per kg on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; sea LCL is per cubic meter; a full container has a fixed price. Send the goods type and weight or dimensions and we'll quote you.
Do you ship small personal orders or only commercial cargo?
Both. We ship anything from a single item for personal use to full containers for traders. For small orders, air or consolidation with other shipments is the cheapest.
How do I track my shipment?
We send updates on WhatsApp or WeChat at each stage: received at the warehouse, inspected, shipped, arrived in Iraq and ready for collection.
I'm a supplier or trader in China. How do I reach you?
Through WeChat (scan the code on the contact page) or our Chinese number +86 171 9937 0677. Our Yiwu office receives goods.
Do you ship from China to countries other than Iraq?
Yes. We ship to every Arab country, from the Gulf and the Levant to Egypt and North Africa, as well as Türkiye and Iran. Time, price and clearance vary by country; send your destination and we'll quote you.
Air freight
What goods suit air freight?
Light, valuable and urgent goods: clothing, shoes, accessories, small electronics, spare parts, and samples before you order in bulk.
What is volumetric weight and why does it matter?
Airlines charge for the space cargo takes up. If a carton is light but bulky, you pay on volumetric weight. Example: a 60×40×40 cm carton has a volumetric weight of 16 kg even if it weighs 5 kg.
Can I ship batteries, liquids or cosmetics by air?
They have special airline rules and some aren't accepted by air. Tell us the product before you buy and we'll advise the permitted route; sea is often the answer.
Sea freight
What is the difference between LCL and FCL?
LCL is a shared container where you pay for your volume in cubic meters. FCL is a whole 20 ft or 40 ft container just for you at a fixed price.
When is a full container cheaper than LCL?
Usually once your goods exceed about 15 cubic meters, a 20 ft container becomes cheaper. We price both options and compare them before shipping.
Where does sea cargo arrive in Iraq?
Sea shipments usually arrive at Umm Qasr port in Basra, then after clearance are trucked to Kut, Baghdad or your governorate.
How many cubic meters does a container hold?
Approximate loadable capacity: 20 ft about 28 m³, 40 ft about 58 m³, and 40 ft high cube (HC) about 68 m³.
Buying from China
How can I buy on 1688 or Taobao without speaking Chinese?
You don't need Chinese or an account. Send the product link or photo, and we talk to the seller, buy, and receive the goods at our warehouse.
I only have a photo, not a link. Can you find the product?
Yes. We search Chinese sites and the Yiwu and Guangzhou markets by image and send you options at different prices.
I bought from China myself. Can you ship it?
Yes. We give you our China warehouse address with a code in your name; pass it to the seller, and we receive, inspect and ship.
Do you negotiate prices with factories?
Yes. For commercial quantities we negotiate price, minimum order quantity (MOQ) and packaging, and request pre-production samples if you need them.
Customs and documents
Do you clear goods through Iraqi customs?
Yes. We handle customs clearance in Iraq, and you collect your goods ready without dealing with customs yourself.
How much are customs duties?
They depend on the type, customs classification and value of the goods. We give you the expected cost with the quote so there are no surprises.
What documents are needed to import from China?
Usually a commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and sometimes a certificate of origin. For orders through us, we prepare them with the supplier.
Why might goods be delayed at customs?
The most common reasons: an inaccurate description, a value that doesn't match the invoice, or goods needing approval from an official body. That's why we check documents before shipping.
